We lived a 3 hour drive from my grandparents so when my dad finished work on Christmas Eve we would pack everything into the Daytona International Speedway Daytona 500 Florida Racing T Shirt and set off for Yorkshire. We naturally sang O Come All ye Faithful but only after midnight were we allowed to sing the final verse of Yea Lord we Greet Thee. Shortly after midnight we called it a day. Many of the adults slightly ‘merry’ from a surfeit of Sherry!

Historically and today, there has been immigration of these people to Czech Republic. During the 16th & 17th centuries many Romanians (Vlachs) immigrated to the mountains in eastern Czechia, and southeastern Czechia had a community of Croatians. Today many Ukrainians immigrate to Czechia. Today thousands of Czechs go to Croatia in the summer, so it is not too exotic.
